Growing up in what then called “Sugar Hill”, in New York City, the strains of Big Band Jazz, Be-Bop Blues and Mambo provided the music of my life.  Rhythm and Blues, Soul, Latin and Doo Wop music filled the streets and airways.  In the military, I sang with a number of “Acappella” (group harmony) ensembles. Leaving the Air Force, I worked as a Graphic Artist and later a Newsreel Cameraman for major TV networks (CBS,NBC, PBS).  I won five Emmy award for cinematography and videography skills.  I have sung with the Art Lillard Heavenly Big Band and as an R&B singer with Kameleon Orchestras. My most enduring association has been with the FELIX SWING BAND.  Working with the Felix Swing Band has been approximately a fifteen year association. I’ve gained an insight into the workings and presentation of earlier Big Band jazz music and its relationship to contemporary music. This band has provided me with the opportunity to play with and listen to stories told by the numerous jazz luminaries that we see listed as former band members.  A Filmmaker, I have made three short films and I hold an MA in Media Arts from the New School University.  Life and luck have given me the opportunity to do the work I love most – sing.
